Calleydown Shortbreak Children's Home

Calleydown is a residential home providing day care and overnight stays for children and young people who have severe learning difficulties.

The home can accommodate 5 children for an overnight stay along with 2 children for day visits, however this is assessed on individual need.

In term time children come in after school. Children staying overnight are taken to school on school transport the next day. During the school holidays children's visits can range from 4 to 24 hours depending on individual need.

The home is based in New Addington and provides a fun and stimulating environment.  It includes:

  • an adapted garden
  • a sensory room
  • a ball pool/soft play room
  • a computer suite for the children to use

The staff encourage the children to take part in a range of activities and outings to develop their independence and make their stay at Calleydown enjoyable.

Referrals come to us following an assessment undertaken by a social worker from services for children with disabilities team. An allocation for a short break service from Calleydown would then be agreed at the resource panel.

Calleydown is registered by Ofsted and currently has a rating of good. Our Ofsted report can be seen at the home or on the Ofsted website, Search Ofsted Reports. Our URN is SC041887.
