Calat is a community education service offering accredited and vocational courses for adults and young people aged 16 to 19, or up to 25 if they have additional needs.

Calat's courses are run across three sites in the borough; Strand House in Thornton Heath, Croydon Clocktower in Central Croydon, and New Addington. All our buildings are accessible, with lifts. There are no parking facilities at our centres but there are good transport links with each building, and either on-road parking or car parks within a short walk.

Costs vary depending on individual circumstances. Many learners are eligible for free courses or 90% access funding.

Other notes

Calat offer vocational and accredited courses to young people with additional needs and EHC Plans– we tailor courses from our mainstream and ALDD courses to suit individual needs.

Courses run throughout the year and do not always have to start in September. Teaching is provided in small classes and within a nurturing environment, and support is available in the classroom for young people who need help to access their learning. (Please note that some courses may be delivered either wholly or partly on-line during the Coronavirus pandemic, due to social distancing measures).
