Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a benefit that helps with the extra costs you may face if you are disabled.

DLA is a tax-free benefit made up of two components (or parts):

  • Care component
  • Mobility component

You can claim for DLA for children, whether you are in work or not. You can also claim DLA as an adult if you are disabled.

You can find more information, check your eligibility and apply via the Disability Living Allowance - Children or Disability Living Allowance - Adults sections of Gov.uk (external links).
