Children unable to attend schools for reasons of medical or mental health

Under section 19 of the education act, Croydon works closely with schools to ensure adequate provision for children and young people unable to attend school for more than 15 days.

Our offer is provided by the Springboard section of Saffron Valley. Referrals should be made by schools to springboard after 15 days using the referral form.

Supporting evidence must be provided from a medical professional where a young person is unable to attend due to medical/mental health concerns. These include but are not limited to:

• GP
• CAHMS
• mental health practitioner
• therapist

The Local authority will respond to the referral and share it with Springboard. We aim to respond to enquiries within 7 working days.
